Music Program
The music program at St. Francis of Assisi focuses on providing students
with the opportunity to develop their musical skills though creating,
listening and performing. In the primary grades students are exposed to a
number of singing games, songs, and listening and movement activities which
aid in developing rhythmic, melodic, and improvisational techniques. For
elementary students, these activities continue and are enhanced with added
emphasis on note reading learned through playing the recorder.
In addition to regular classroom music periods, the program also provides
all students the opportunity to sing and perform in choir, band, and
various concerts throughout the school year. Each year students take part
in activites such as the singing of Christmas Carols at the Fairmont, the
NLTA Christmas Suite, and the Choral Connections. In addition students
also perform in both Christmas and Spring concerts at the school.
