In Grade
Two, a thematic approach has been implemented to
meet the learning outcomes. Each month, we will
study an exciting topic such as Bats, Space,
Dinosaurs, Weather, and Trees. We are exploring
children’s literature through Author studies,
Reader’s Theatre, and Literature Circles. Silent
Reading and our Home School Reading Program continue
to be an important part of literacy development.
The students will continue using various forms of
writing and be introduced to new strategies,
techniques and forms.
Our math
program, Quest 2000, is a “hands-on” program that
helps the students acquire mathematical concepts
through active learning.
Computer
continuums are being implemented to assess student
progress and measure specific learning outcomes.
Technology will be incorporated into our resource
units to further enhance computer technology skills.
Our Grade
Two Health program will involve students in such
topics as I am Special, Safety, Healthy Food and
Bodies. The students will study Science topics such
as trees, rocks, fossils, matter and light. These
topics will foster a respect for the environment,
and a desire to understand the natural world.
The
students are excited about the introduction of
cursive writing this year.
We are looking forward to a
great year filled with learning and fun.
